Die Polizei wurde auf den Kokainschmuggel in großem Stil aufmerksam, als ein Lidl-Mitarbeiter beim Einräumen der Regale unter Bündeln von Bananen ein Päckchen des Rauschgiftes entdeckte. Als die Polizei daraufhin weitere Filialen des Diskonters mit Spürhunden durchsuchte, fand sie insgesamt 25 derartiger Päckchen. Ihr Inhalt ist mehrere Millionen Euro wert.
