Noch in diesem Jahr soll die sogenannte Eigenbedarfsgrenze für weiche Drogen wie Haschisch oder Marihuana von sechs auf zehn Gramm erhöht werden, sagte eine Sprecherin des Justizministeriums am Dienstag in Düsseldorf. Bei Heroin, Kokain und Amphetaminen sollen wieder 0,5 Gramm zum Eigenverbrauch erlaubt sein. Derzeit ist der Besitz verboten.

A constitutional challenge by two members of the "Church of the Universe" busted on drug charges was back in court Tuesday.

Church of the Universe lawyer Paul Lewin kicked off four days of closing submissions Tuesday by arguing the defence has proven the belief of the church members is sincere and based on a nexus with religion.

Commentators like Bill O'Reilly claim that ending the drug war would lead to more children being abused by drug-addicted parents. But 33-year law enforcement veteran Neill Franklin sees it differently.

"These drugs in an illegal environment are more accessible to our kids," says Franklin, who serves as Executive Director Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, "because we leave complete control, regulation, and standards up to the criminals."
