Colombia's defence minister says authorities have seized $29 million and 17 million euros in cash in a home in a poor district south of the capital, Bogota.

The official, Rodrigo Rivera, says the money belonged to drug traffickers including Daniel "El Loco" Barrera. Authorities are offering a $2.7 millon reward for Barrera's capture.

Codenamed, ‘Operación Zumo’ the 12 Britons arrested are eight men and four women. Six properties have been searched, three in Orihuela and three in Torrevieja, and police have impounded a vehicle which was carrying 53,000 ecstasy pills, destination Ibiza. In total, five vehicles have been impounded along with a six metre long boat, precisions scales and a well-hidden marihuana plantation in Crevillente, Alicante.

A Houston rapper and his brother were caught with more than $4 million worth of marijuana late Thursday, according to investigators with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
Bernard Theriot, 36, was busted at his home in the 4500 block of Creek Point Lane in Missouri City.
Bryan Theriot, also known as Tow Down, was arrested at his home in the 3400 block of Chambers Circle.
Undercover officers with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office raided Bernard Theriot's home and said they found 850 plants weighing about 5,000 pounds.
"Water pumps, timers, artificial lighting equipment. The entire second story of the house had been professionally constructed by plumbers and electricians," said Rodney Glendening with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
The pot plants were being grown on the second story of the house which was "specially designed to manufacture the marijuana," according to investigators.
Bernard and Bryan Theriot are being held without bond on charges of possession and delivery of marijuana.
Bryan Theriot is also charged with possession of cocaine and hydrocodone.
Tow Down and his brother were arrested in 2008 for allegedly growing pot inside a home in Sienna Plantation.
"There's no fear and there's no respect," said Glendening.
That time, the pot was at Bryan's house.
"He had an elaborate large-scale operation in his house. It was the entire second floor of his residence," said Glendening. "What they merely did was move it from one house to his brother's house."
Both brothers were out on bond on the 2008 charges when they were busted again in 2010

A veteran CBS Radio News correspondent was arrested early Saturday on drug charges after police searched his Northwest Washington home and found marijuana plants growing in his yard, police said.

Officers arrested Howard Arenstein, 60, and his wife, Orly Katz, 57, at their home in the 3500 block of T Street and charged them with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, police said.

Proposition 19, the November state ballot measure that would legalize marijuana, will not immediately establish a regulated system of sales, so it is correct to say the law would not immediately generate billions in new tax revenue. But Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is disingenuous to suggest (as he did in his Sept. 24 Times Op-Ed article) that it's wrong to support Proposition 19 on the grounds that it will generate additional revenue for the state; it will, but Schwarzenegger says not enough. Proposition 19 is in fact good policy and an important part of what must be a multifaceted solution to the budget crisis.
