A sophisticated marijuana grow-op in the Village of Spring Lake operating under the pretext of medicinal purposes, has been squashed by the local police.

The RCMP Tri Municipal Drug Section, with the assistance of the EPS and RCMP Green Team, executed a search warrant on 12th October at a residence on Willowview Boulevard in the village, 15 km west of Stony Plain.

Two men have appeared in court in Belfast in connection with the seizure of cannabis with an estimated street value of £1m.

Aidan MacPartland, 29, of Derramore Gardens, Belfast, and 36-year-old Warren Arthur Martin of Ballyconey Road West, Moneymore, Derry were charged before Belfast Magistrates Court this morning with a series of drug-related offences.

The head of Russia's federal drug control agency says the U.S. has failed to dismantle heroin-processing laboratories in Afghanistan despite specific information he has given American officials about the facilities.

"For some reason they are unable to carry out any operations to destroy these laboratories, because there is a delay from the military side," Victor Ivanov told The Associated Press through an interpreter in an interview this past week.
