The Istanbul Police narcotics unit seized 155 kilos of heroin from a truck on Monday in district of Beylikdüzü.

The narcotics unit was acting on a tip that a large shipment of drugs en route from Iran was being transported to Europe. The truck was stopped after police obtained warrants and the heroin was found hidden in different parts of the vehicle

On Friday, a 23-year-old woman accompanied by a passenger attempted to smuggle more than 55 pounds of cocaine in a Dodge pickup. The two were referred by a CBP officer to the secondary lot for further inspection due to discrepancies found on the vehicle they were traveling in.

After nearly a decade in decline, marijuana is making a strong comeback among teens, with more high school seniors reporting that they had recently smoked pot than cigarettes, according to a government survey issued Tuesday.

This year, 21.4% of high school seniors said they had used marijuana in the last 30 days, while 19.2% reported smoking cigarettes in the same time period, according to the annual "Monitoring the Future" survey from the National Institute on Drug Abuse. It was the first time since 1981 that pot surpassed tobacco in that age group.
