AN imprisoned Padstow man was one of two men charged over a $540 million ecstasy haul - the largest seizure of the drug in Australia’s history.

Pak Lam Li (also known as Patrick), 45, and Singaporean national, Keng Chuan Koh, 30, were jailed after being arrested in Geelong in December 2006 by Victorian police over a $51 million liquid ecstasy haul.

Milzbrand (Anthrax) bei Drogenkonsumenten in Deutschland! (Stand: Januar 2010)
Im Dezember 2009 starb ein 42-jähriger Mann, der Drogen injiziert hatte, in Aachen an Milzbrand (Anthrax). Seit Dezember sind in Schottland 14 Heroinkonsumenten an Milzbrand erkrankt, von denen sieben starben. Weitere Verdachtsfälle kamen vor wenigen Tagen hinzu. Ein Konsument hat die Infektion durch Rauchen/Schnupfen bekommen.
Milzbrand ist eine in Deutschland sehr seltene, bakterielle, Infektions-krankheit (vor Dezember 2009 datierte der letzte Fall von 1994), die un-behandelt oft zum Tode führt. Darüber hinaus ist das Krankheitsbild bei Ärzten kaum bekannt, so dass eventuell nicht immer frühzeitig daran ge-dacht wird. Milzbrand kann mit Antibiotika behandelt werden. Die Behandlung sollte frühzeitig begonnen werden. Einen Impfstoff gibt es nicht.

Zwei Jahre Haft ohne Bewährung lautet das Urteil gegen einen 51-jährigen Mann aus dem westlichen Landkreis. In Haus, Garage und Garten hatte er insgesamt zwölf Marihuanapflanzen angebaut. Im Zuge einer Durchsuchung erntete die Polizei über 600 Gramm an Blüten und Blättern. In ihrer Urteilsbegründung am Schöffengericht in Augsburg empfahl Richterin Gabriele Holzer dem „unbelehrbaren und strafunempfindlichen“ Mann, nach Ablauf seiner Freiheitsstrafe nach Holland zu ziehen.
