Channel Nine’s head of development David Mason took one look at the footage that will go to air tonight in the reality crime show Australian Druglords, ‘‘and I thought ‘Oh my goodness, are you for real?’ To see the sort of footage we usually have to recreate in the likes of Underbelly ... we thought if the police are happy to release this to us we were very happy to show it.’’

That footage included surveillance video of Richard Buttrose, nephew of magazine publishing legend Ita and cocaine dealer to Sydney’s A-list, throwing packets of coke through the window of car driven by an undercover agent, being arrested by police, and being taken back home in handcuffs to his just-about-to-drop pregnant wife, Pollyanna.
