AN ACT TO AMEND THE HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE OF CALIFORNIA:

I. Add Section 11362.6 to the Health and Safety Code of California, any laws or policies to the contrary notwithstanding:

1. No person, individual, or corporate entity shall be arrested or prosecuted, be denied any right or privilege, nor be subject to any criminal or civil penalties for the possession, cultivation, transportation, distribution, or consumption of cannabis hemp marijuana, including:

(a) Cannabis hemp industrial products.

(b) Cannabis hemp medicinal preparations.

(c) Cannabis hemp nutritional products.

(d) Cannabis hemp religious and spiritual products.

(e) Cannabis hemp recreational and euphoric use and products.

Jack Herer was never an elected law-maker who could formally shape policy. Nor was he some billionaire who could buy influence. Yet his rare combination of brilliant intellect, endless curiosity, scholarly diligence and passionate people skills made him a force of nature whose impact is perhaps only just beginning to be truly felt.

All but complete Johnny-come-latelies to cannabis culture probably have some awareness of Jack “The Hemperor” Herer as perhaps the most influential figure in the modern legalization movement. Herer, who passed away in April, wrote 1985’s The Emperor Wears No Clothes, the book that ignited the campaign and remains its manifesto and devoted nearly four decades to tireless, charismatic activism. The man almost literally died trying to have hemp and marijuana legalized in America. Were it not for Herer’s work, we might not be enjoying decrim here in California (and elsewhere) or have seen nearly half the state’s voters give the nod to full legalization last month.

Hippies and hempsters from high and low are coming together at the biggest hemp festival in the United States this weekend, August 21-22.

The Seattle Hempfest celebrates it's 19th year by remembering the late, great Jack Herer, a moniker of hemp events whose absence is greatly felt throughout the cannabis community.

For over forty years, Jack Herer, the Emperor of Hemp, shouted from the rooftops, "Hemp will save the world!" He spoke to advocates and critics alike, filling in the gaps created by propaganda and misinformation. Jack was wholly committed to ending cannabis prohibition, and never ceased sharing the story of hemp to any one that would listen. Jack left this world on April 15, 2010, but the quest for cannabis freedom lives on.

Er war weltweit der wohl bedeutendste Kämpfer für die Legalisierung von Hanf, der feurigste und unermüdlichste auf jeden Fall, und heiliger Zorn brauste jedes Mal in ihm auf, wenn er das Verbot der wichtigsten und wertvollsten Pflanze dieses Planeten anprangerte. So auch bei seiner letzten Rede im vergangenen September beim "Hempstalk" in Oregon, nach der er hinter der Bühne einen Herzinfarkt erlitt. Es war schon sein zweiter und dieses mal hat er sich von den Folgen nicht erholt – Donnerstag ist Jack Herer im Alter von 70 Jahren in Eugene/Oregon gestorben.

tja, und nun zu ihnen herr bröckers:
obwohl 'ihr' buch in den 90gern zur rechten zeit herauskam, hat mich schon damals gewurmt, dass sie entweder nicht wussten, dass jack herers 'des kaisers neue kleider' eine eins zu eins übersetzung des buches 'von hanf ist die rede' von hans georg behr ist (der ihn übrigens bekehrt hat)…bzw es einfach ignoriert haben.

The sad news has been confirmed. Jack Herer, author of Emperor Wears No Clothes and renowned around the world for hemp activism, has died at 11:17 a.m. today, Thursday April 15th 2010, in Eugene, Oregon.

Jack Herer suffered a heart attack last September just after speaking on stage at the Portland HempStalk festival. The last seven months have proven to be a huge challenge to the man, with several health issues making his recovery complicated.
