Federal authorities in Massachusetts said eight members of an alleged Colombian drug trafficking ring have been arrested and the equivalent of 3 tons of cocaine seized in the South American country.

Wegen eines ungewöhnlichen Geruchs in ihrem Wohnhaus, der sie ein Gasgebrechen befürchten ließ, hat eine Wienerin am Mittwoch die Polizei verständigt – und damit einen Studenten auffliegen lassen, der Cannabis anbaute.

Die Polizisten überprüften nach Angaben der Behörde vom Donnerstag sämtliche Türen und bemerkten vor der Wohnung des Studenten starken Cannabis-Geruch. Der 29-Jährige ließ die Beamten ohne Weiteres ein und gab freimütig zu, seit ungefähr zwei Monaten Cannabis anzubauen und selbst zu konsumieren. Das Kraut wurde sichergestellt, der 29-Jährige wurde angezeigt.
