More than 1,600 pounds of marijuana with an estimated value exceeding $1.3 million has been seized by U.S. Border Patrol agents over the weekend.

On Sunday, agents from the Ajo Station, working with officers from the National Park Service (NPS), found tire tracks heading west on a dirt road away from State Route 85. Border Patrol agents and NPS officers followed the tracks to a parked vehicle. Inside the vehicle, agents discovered 64 bundles of marijuana weighing more than 950 pounds. The marijuana was taken to the Ajo Station for processing.

Canada's so-called Prince of Pot has pleaded guilty to a drug charge in exchange for a five-year prison term.

Marc Emery appeared in U.S. District Court in Seattle on Monday after being extradited last week from Vancouver, British Columbia. He sold millions of marijuana seeds to U.S. customers before his arrest in 2005.

He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana in exchange for an agreed sentence of five years in prison. He is to be sentenced in August, and prosecutors or Emeray may withdraw from the plea deal if the judge issues a different sentence.

Marc Emery, the purported "Prince of Pot" and former candidate for mayor of Vancouver, will appear in U.S. District Court on Thursday afternoon after his long-awaited transfer to U.S. custody on drug charges.

Emery, 51, stands accused of running a marijuana seed distribution service and associated crimes.

Indicted in 2005, Emery fought extradition in the courts and attempted to put public pressure on Canadian authorities to block his transfer to the United States. On Monday, if he enters a guilty plea as expected, Emery will be sentenced to a five-year term in federal prison.
