Vancouver marijuana activist Marc Emery is taking his last puff of freedom -- as the clock counts down on an extradition order that will send him to a U.S. jail for five years.

Mr. Emery, founder of the B.C. Marijuana Party and publisher of Cannabis Culture magazine, is currently out on bail waiting for Federal Justice Minister and Attorney General Rob Nicholson to sign the extradition order, which can be done any time after Friday.

The National Police have smashed a drugs gang which smuggled regular consignments of cannabis onto the Algeciras ferry at Tangiers and which used a rented garage in Algeciras as a warehouse to store the drugs they brought over from Morocco. A quarter of a ton of cannabis was impounded as part of the police operation.

Am Wochenende haben Beamte des Landeskriminalamtes (LKA) in Zossen (Teltow-Fläming) eine Rauschgiftplantage in einer abgelegenen ehemaligen Stallanlage ausgehoben. Dort wurden 1400 Marihuanapflanzen gehegt und gepflegt: unter künstlicher Beleuchtung sowie mit reichlich Wärme und Wasser. Die Beamten stellten außerdem 850 bereits geerntete und getrocknete Pflanzen, 20 Kilogramm Marihuana sowie mehrere Zehntausend Euro an Bargeld sicher. Zwei deutsche und vier vietnamesische Männer wurden festgenommen.
