For the second straight month, Diesel took the top pot spot and Kush finished the month as a runner-up. Blueberry made the top five for the first time since July 2010. As was the case in July, Blueberry was the least expensive strain of January’s top five. The top five submitted strains (with average price) were Diesel ($433), Kush ($371), Haze ($390), Blueberry ($338) and Purps ($442).

Kush took the top pot spot in October, once again edging out both Diesel and Purps in the total number of submissions. Interestingly, the top five submitted strains of the month are the very same strains - in the very same order - as September’s top five.

For the first time this year, we have a new strain in the top pot spot. Purps beat out Kush as July’s most submitted strain; the last time Purps recorded a first-place finish was in August 2009.

Despite the Golden State’s conspicuous absence from this month’s THMQ, Kush still easily ran away with the top pot spot, nearly doubling the total submissions for the next closest strain, Blueberry. Also this month, Jack Herer made a long-awaited return to the top five - the first such finish for the strain since October 2009.

Market Analysis:

Once again, it’s Kush in the top pot spot for the month. Perennial runners-up Diesel and Purps were also well represented in April, and after a two-month absence, Haze returned to the list of most-submitted strains this month. Meanwhile, White Widow cracked the top five for the first time in 2010 (last appearance: November 2009).

After losing the top pot spot in December 2009, Kush submissions have been pouring in, and the strain has yet to be dethroned in 2010. The top-five performers have been fairly consistent thus far; however, Trainwreck made the cut for the first time this year, dislodging Strawberry Cough.
