Police officers in a small Arizona border city are on heightened alert following a tip that a Mexican drug cartel will put them in its crosshairs if they conduct off-duty busts.

The Jamaican police have captured the once powerful gang leader, Christopher "Dudus" Coke, as he was on his way to surrender to the US embassy in Kingston weeks after leading a bloody urban battle to avoid deportation for trial to New York.

Coke appears to have wanted to hand himself in to the Americans out of concern for his safety after his father died in a mysterious prison cell fire that some Jamaicans believe was intended to prevent him talking in court about the close links between the island's criminal gangs and leading politicians.

Hector Raul Luna Luna is said to be the head of the Los Zetas gang in the north-eastern city of Monterrey, Mexico's third largest city.

A close associate of alleged drug trafficker Darko Saric was killed on Sunday (May 30th) in the town of Kotor. Dragan Dudic, aka "Fric", was shot outside a local bar and died in hospital. Police arrested a 32-year-old man in relation to the attack. According to the media, Dudic was involved in money laundering from cocaine deals. Serbia wants to arrest Saric in connection with the smuggling of 2.5 tonnes of cocaine from South America. He is still at large. Saric's gang is believed to be one of the top organised crime groups in the Balkans.
