Beginning this Wednesday, the entire 2,000 miles of border between the United States and Mexico will be patrolled by unmanned aerial drones. Three drones are already patrolling portions of that border, and a fourth Predator begins operations tomorrow out of Corpus Christi, TX, completing the full stretch of la frontera.

Das Bundesinstitut für Arzneimittel und Medizinprodukte (BfArM),
das der Aufsicht des Bundesgesundheitsministeriums untersteht,
hat einem Multiple-Sklerose-Patienten untersagt, Cannabis selbst
anzubauen. Der Bescheid vom 10. August wurde vor allem
begründet mit Sicherheitsbedenken beim Anbau in der Wohnung,
einer erhöhten Gefahr für Missbrauch, der Verwendung einer nicht
standardisierten Substanz und der Schädigung des internationalen
Ansehens Deutschlands.

Corruption among Mexican police is fueling violence in Mexico, a top U.S. official said Friday at the 7th Annual Border Security Conference.

The California Chamber of Commerce and other groups representing employers are starting to line up to oppose the initiative to legalize marijuana, charging that Proposition 19 would allow pot smokers to light up on the job and operate dangerous equipment while stoned.

Stepping up the campaign on Thursday, the chamber released a five-page analysis that starts: "Imagine a workplace where employees show up to work high on marijuana and there is nothing you can do about it."

Allan Zaremberg, the chamber's chief executive, criticized the measure, saying it would set a high bar for employers to act against workers using marijuana by requiring proof that they were actually impaired. "Prop. 19 creates a new protected class of California citizens," he said.

Even before D.C.’s medical-marijuana law allows prescription pot, the scent of cannabis often drifts out of cars, hovers around the front of bars or wafts along sidewalks.

A federal study estimates 78,000 people in D.C. used pot in 2007, the last year for which statistics were available. That’s about 13 percent of the population at large; meanwhile, more than a quarter of 18-to-25-year-olds said they’d smoked in the last month alone.
