IN an operation carried out in Tenerife, Melilla, Malaga and Almeria, Guardia Civil have seized 2,666 kilos of cocaine. The drugs had come from South America and were destined for Europe via Morocco.

They were intercepted on a Spanish sailing boat which had left from Tenerife. This is the largest drugs haul using this particular route, and one of the most important of recent years.

In the 4-2 decision, the council ruled that medical marijuana may not be sold or used within a mile of Belgrade. However, pot stores that opened prior to the Tuesday ban will be "grandfathered" into the new system by the state law, and allowed to maintain their businesses.

Residents would also be permitted to grow their own medical marijuana. The ordinance will take effect on Aug. 5.
