Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Narcotics Detectives said they have busted two marijuana grows Monday, worth an estimated street value of $8.7 million.

Detectives said the eradication began early Monday morning and lasted through the day into the evening hours. One of the grows was located off Tepusquet Road near Colson Canyon. The other was located off San Marcos Pass near Kinevan Road.

Detectives said they found more than 570 plants and 100 pounds of processed marijuana in the North County bust. They estimate that to value about $6 million. The plants were described as "unusually large and very carefully maintained" by some of the veteran Narcotics Detectives.

Colombia's defence minister says authorities have seized $29 million and 17 million euros in cash in a home in a poor district south of the capital, Bogota.

The official, Rodrigo Rivera, says the money belonged to drug traffickers including Daniel "El Loco" Barrera. Authorities are offering a $2.7 millon reward for Barrera's capture.

A Houston rapper and his brother were caught with more than $4 million worth of marijuana late Thursday, according to investigators with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
Bernard Theriot, 36, was busted at his home in the 4500 block of Creek Point Lane in Missouri City.
Bryan Theriot, also known as Tow Down, was arrested at his home in the 3400 block of Chambers Circle.
Undercover officers with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office raided Bernard Theriot's home and said they found 850 plants weighing about 5,000 pounds.
"Water pumps, timers, artificial lighting equipment. The entire second story of the house had been professionally constructed by plumbers and electricians," said Rodney Glendening with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.
The pot plants were being grown on the second story of the house which was "specially designed to manufacture the marijuana," according to investigators.
Bernard and Bryan Theriot are being held without bond on charges of possession and delivery of marijuana.
Bryan Theriot is also charged with possession of cocaine and hydrocodone.
Tow Down and his brother were arrested in 2008 for allegedly growing pot inside a home in Sienna Plantation.
"There's no fear and there's no respect," said Glendening.
That time, the pot was at Bryan's house.
"He had an elaborate large-scale operation in his house. It was the entire second floor of his residence," said Glendening. "What they merely did was move it from one house to his brother's house."
Both brothers were out on bond on the 2008 charges when they were busted again in 2010

A veteran CBS Radio News correspondent was arrested early Saturday on drug charges after police searched his Northwest Washington home and found marijuana plants growing in his yard, police said.

Officers arrested Howard Arenstein, 60, and his wife, Orly Katz, 57, at their home in the 3500 block of T Street and charged them with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, police said.
