Proposed 60,000 sq. ft. Marijuana Growing Facility in Oakland Announced
11:45h
On Sunday, a couple hundred people gathered near the Oakland Airport for a celebration of the grand re-opening of the country's largest cannabis-friendly hydroponics superstore, weGrow, formerly known as iGrow.
The new branding is part of an ambitious national expansion. In less than a year, weGrow has become the first superstore of its type, sometimes jokingly referred to as the "Home De-Pot" of hydroponic stores. Oakland Local reported on iGrow as part of a 6-part Cannabis Business series in March. Now weGrow has an operational store in Burlingame, one soon to open in Sacramento, and over 70 franchise stores already under contract across the nation. ... Link (0 Kommentare) ... Comment
Orange County legal secretary grows medical marijuana legally, happily
11:44h
In this Sunday's paper (and online) you may have read an interesting feature by Deborah Netburn about a woman in her 50s who grows her own medical marijuana in the room once occupied by her daughter who has recently left the nest.
The Costa Mesa legal secretary combats her rheumatoid arthritis by eating the various strains of marijuana that she and her husband grow in their home. ... Link (0 Kommentare) ... Comment
Schwarzenegger's misguided opposition to legalizing marijuana
11:43h
Proposition 19, the November state ballot measure that would legalize marijuana, will not immediately establish a regulated system of sales, so it is correct to say the law would not immediately generate billions in new tax revenue. But Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is disingenuous to suggest (as he did in his Sept. 24 Times Op-Ed article) that it's wrong to support Proposition 19 on the grounds that it will generate additional revenue for the state; it will, but Schwarzenegger says not enough. Proposition 19 is in fact good policy and an important part of what must be a multifaceted solution to the budget crisis.

The Budgetary Impact of Ending Drug Prohibition
10:58h
State and federal governments in the United States face massive looming fiscal deficits. One policy change that can reduce deficits is ending the drug war. Legalization means reduced expenditure on enforcement and an increase in tax revenue from legalized sales.
This report estimates that legalizing drugs would save roughly $41.3 billion per year in government expenditure on enforcement of prohibition. Of these savings, $25.7 billion would accrue to state and local governments, while $15.6 billion would accrue to the federal government. Approximately $8.7 billion of the savings would result from legalization of marijuana and $32.6 billion from legalization of other drugs. DrugProhibitionWP.pdf [ 3.66 MB] ... Link (0 Kommentare) ... Tunnels at U.S.-Mexico border increasingly smugglers' route in
10:56h
Drone aircraft patrol the U.S.-Mexico border from the skies. Fast boats look out for smugglers at sea. And tens of thousands of Border Patrol agents use trucks, horses, all-terrain vehicles and bicycles to stop unauthorized crossers on land.
But there is another route across the border, one in which smugglers slither north. As enforcement efforts have increased and border barriers have been built, tunneling has gained in popularity, with Nogales ... Link (0 Kommentare) ... Comment
Portland Police Bureau fights random drug testing for cops
10:55h
The union representing Portland police officers is pushing back against a proposal that would require random drug testing of police officers.
The proposal from the city would also require drug tests after use of deadly force, suspects' death in custody and serious traffic crashes. Portland Police Association attorney Will Aitchison says the proposal would violate the officers' right to privacy. ... Link (0 Kommentare) ... Comment Samstag, 2. Oktober 2010
Sicherer Job - Marihuanatester in Kalifornien
19:00h
